Thanksgiving Tree

I have heard of people making Thanksgiving trees. Most of the ones I have seen were made from tree branches and were in a pot. I wanted to make one this year so that my boys could write down each day what they are Thankful for. I thought about the tree branch one and then I saw in the Pottery barn kids catalog a Thanksgiving Countdown Calendar. So I got out some brown felt and drew a tree, stuck it to my wall with tape and made a cute "Give Thanks" sign to go above it.

Every night before my boys go to bed we take a leaf and they get to draw a picture of something they are thankful for.  I got paper leafs at the dollar store. My oldest loves this activity and makes sure we don't skip a night. Even my baby tells me one thing each night for me to write down. I love the way this turned out and am so glad thhat my boys are learning to be grateful for the things in their lives.

About Me

Hello! My name is Melissa. Welcome to LIFE IN THE DAWG PILE! My crazy, fun, creative life as a stay-at-home mom to my three sons. We pretty much live everyday in a DAWG PILE. With three boys they just love to pile each other and my husband and me. My favorite moments in life are the mornings I am lying around relaxing with my husband and my boys run in and pile on us. I have a supportive husband who has learned not to freak out when he comes home to find the house torn apart in pursuit of my latest project.

I studied fashion design in college. I love to sew and design clothing, but more recently I create gifts for my children and decorative things for my home. I love creating with my boys, and doing fun art projects with them. I am always finding a new project in house.  My most recent hobby is recreating my finds from the thrift stores. I also enjoy cooking and finding new recipes to make for my family.  My favorite thing to do is decorate for every holiday there is.

Please join us in our PILE. Hopefully something will inspire you!
